Illegal, no. A tad questionable on the ethics side however.

There are sane "-isms" too ... mostly we ARE at risk for
being "infidels" in the eye of Islam. We ARE at more risk
from young "black" men we may encounter. Doesn't
matter if those truths are "un-PC", they are truths nevertheless
and we have to prepare accordingly. It's bad to contemplate a
hurricane smashing Miami too - but if you live there you MUST
be prepared for a big hurricane.

This doesn't mean you should automatically view Moslems
or young 'black' guys as imminent enemies, it's certainly
not all of them, but percentage-wise it's somewhat *more*
of them and proportional cautions are required.

Real-world/whole-population risks are a bit different. If you're
a middle-class 'white' guy living in the 'burbs your most likely
attacker will not be 'black' OR a Moslem - it'll be your 'white'
neighbor guy or a brother/cousin or the meth punks from the
next block. You may have to shoot one of them to save yer ass.

Advertising-wise though it's better to suggest a more "external"
enemy, a stranger, rather than cousin Bill because you'd feel
a lot worse about plugging poor old drunken Bill ... probably
shouldn't even think about it since he's over at yer place three
times a week .............

Face it, people get *hostile* sometimes ... x-percent will try
to KILL yer ass or someone standing near you. They may
be big and mean and totally amped-up on meth too. So, there
may come a time when you need an "equalizer" if you want
to save yer, or someone elses, ass. Sorry, but that's the way
it is. You have NO obligation to be shot/stabbed/hacked/choked
to death "in the name of civilization" no matter what shit the
tiny-testicle ultralib crowd is trying to sell you. Success would
just encourage the perps too ... YOU were easy, so .......
